Emergency Medical Technicians: Responsible for Basic Life Support (BLS) care and transport. Needs to know basic first aid/CPR, patient stabilization, and vital signs.

 

Paramedics: Responsible for Advanced Life Support (ALS) care and transport. Needs to know about IVs, basic first aid/CPR, patient stabilization, and vital signs. Paramedics are the only people who can administer narcotics and IVs.

 

Supervisors: Could be anyone from a senior member to a chief, responsible for assisting and commanding EMS assets.

 

Chiefs: Chiefs and assistant chiefs are the heads of the departments.
